This special series of nine free talks on a variety of subjects, from street names to song contests and space to super powers, has something for everyone. There's a laugh-a-minute talk about Britain's highest pub, an astronomer explaining the Star of Bethlehem, and a heartwarming story about school life in The Gambia. What will you learn?

Welcome In Community Centre Leeds is a vibrant and inclusive hub nestled in North Leeds (LS16). A warm and inviting space, it serves as a gathering place for people of all ages and backgrounds. Renovated from a run-down pub it has been transformed to a fabulous facility with a community café, mini orchard, therapeutic gardening space and has a bright and cozy interior.

In 2001, a couple from Bradford travelled to The Gambia and came across a school with 2,600 pupils and no books. They were looking to go on a holiday that was “hot and cheap”, to “chill out”. Twenty-five years later, they’ve funded and built countless nurseries, libraries and wells.

Opening hours

Welcome In Community Centre is open to the public. You can visit our cafe from Wednesday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. You can purchase tickets to all of our events in person at the venue, which is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm.
